Today the "sea" large-capacity container is recognized as the most convenient type of transport unit for multimodal (intermodal) transportation of goods, i.e. transportation under one contract, but performed by at least two modes of transport and with the responsibility of the executor for the entire transportation segment under the contract.

A standard size container made of metal is a guarantee of cargo safety during transportation. The container can be transported by various means of transport, reinstalling it on another vehicle. The cargo is loaded into a container at the sender's warehouse and in the same container arrives at the recipient's warehouse, excluding the reloading of the cargo itself during transportation. Moreover, for each type of cargo, a standardized container that is most suitable in type and size can be selected, making it possible to cheapen the cost of transshipment of cargo in ports and terminals, reduce transportation costs, increase the speed of cargo delivery and its safety.
